Boise Buzz: May 17-May 18, 2008
This week's Boise Buzz is solely about the Idaho Green Expo being held this weekend!!!

Check out the fabulous events this weekend at the first-ever Idaho Green Expo!  There is so much happening, I encourage everyone to make time to attend several of the 80 seminars, visit 144 exhibitors, catch the inspiration of one of several keynote speakers, walk through the alternative vehicle park, eat some local food. The weather gods are shining down, ride your bike and experience bike valet parking or at the very least pay a few bucks to offset your travel at the GreenWorks booth.
Complete information is available at: http://www.idahogreenexpo.org/

A few things to get really excited about:

The Local Table – Center on the Grove all day Saturday and Sunday. Treasure Valley Food Coalition kicks off the 2008 growing season in style with 3 huge Trager BBQ's and a Solar Oven to prepare a menu for locavores!

GreenWorks – The future non-profit organization envisioned by the leaders who put together Idaho Green Expo.  A local voluntary green house gas exchange funding a local sustainable business incubator and education center.  This group is serious about taking steps to build a sustainable local community!

ReFab Home – Just experience it!

Boise Bike Project – Making bikes accessible to everyone, get to know these people this weekend and donate a bike to their cause!  Incredible idea this group has!

Greening The Grove – "The Green Show" – Hosted by the Fool Squad and Curtis Stigers, this event from 5-9 on the Grove Plaza begins with a fashion show of eco-designs by Foxtrot and finishes with the world class sounds of Curtis and friends.   After a day spent at the Expo, come celebrate our community's commitment to the environment and listen to wonderful local artists including Curtis Stigers, Jeremiah James, Bill Coffey, Dale Keys, the Frim Fram Four, Amuma Says No, Rebecca Scott and more.  The mission is to make the heart of our downtown, the Center on the Grove, a demonstration of sustainability.  Organizers want to build a permanent plug & play stage and a solar power grid capable of supplying all the power for all future events including all Alive after 5 events.

Speaking of films, a 20 minute short film "The Story of Stuff" is playing Sunday at 10:30am at the Expo, this is a terrific-fun feature that requires no explanation and is a must see for every age!  This should be required viewing for every human as we enter Earth!

This is just a glimpse into the variety of exciting programs being held at the Expo.  Don't go without a program and make sure to devote quality time.  This is not a one hour expo, it's a weekend experience.... and it's FREE.
